SELF PORTRAIT...again.
2nd semester just started. This is pretty much the first thing I did for the first class in 2D Design subject, Miss Maslisa. Imma tell you everything about that photo, WHAT,WHY,WHERE,WHO,WHEN and HOW. Haha using the 5W'S 1H :p This is all about FRIENDSHIP.
WHAT are the materials that I used :
-Leaves
- Black marker pen
-Garden wire
WHY is it designed like that? :
As you can see, theres a HEART shape on top and theres nothing below on the right at the end of it. Theres also 3 little circles below the heart shape. 3 leaves, with COME, AND and GO word on it, but you cant see the AND. Okay,lets start with the heart and the 3 little circles. WHY HEART AND 3 LITTLE CIRCLES AT THE END? Well this is because the 3 little circles pretty much represent FRIENDS and the heart represent LOVE IN FRIENDSHIP. The thing is now, the 3 little circles cannot go out from the heart shape. SO...this means, true and real friends will stick around you. They wont gonna leave you, will be there for you whenever you need them and never gonna let you down. NOW, we're going to the LEAVES part. WHY I CHOSE LEAVES? , WHY 3 LEAVES and WHY THERES COME, AND and GO word on those leaves? I chose LEAVES because when the wind blows, the leaves will turn around and around. I dont know, but to me, those leaves when its blown by the wind, it represent LIFE GOES ON. You cant do anything about it, you cant force people to stay in your life. Youre gonna lose them and you have to face it. I use 3 LEAVES because obviously you can see the garden wire is not long enough,thats why I only use 3. THE WORDS? Suddenly it crossed my mind, come and go, which is coincidentally fit to write them on the leaves. WHY I CHOSE THOSE WORDS? Because its true though, friends come and go in our lives and you have to deal with it. And that is why theres nothing at the end of it near the leaves, but that NOTHING represent our life. The leaves can easily go out and in from the garden wire, and so does our friends, they easily come and go in our lives.
WHAT did I do for self portrait? :
I dont have a name for the thing that I did, but that represent..FRIENDSHIP? Thats pretty much whats happening in my life right now. I just graduated from high school last year,2012. High school and University ARE DIFFERENT! WHY? The subjects, the surroundings, the friends, the teachers..EVERYTHING is different when you step in University. THE SUBJECTS obviously the one thats gonna be different. Theres no more..what.. uhh..Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Inggeris, Matematik, Sains, Sejarah and others. I mean, MAYBE some other students, they might still learn the things that they learnt in high school, but Im in Design School, we don't have those Maths, Science and what so ever. Its all about Arts, Drawings and stuff you know. We have new subjects, so its pretty much like a culture shock? Everything is new to us, you see. THE SURROUNDINGS also gonna be different. Like, in high school, you have to line up outside the class before entering the class or going other places, you have to ask permission to go out but in University..DUDE YOU CAN GO IN AND OUT WHENEVER YOU WANT, BRO! Cool huh? Yea I know. NOW,FRIENDS,HMMMM.. Making/Finding friends are the most difficult thing ever when you step into University. You have to make new friends, know you who your real friends and what so ever, because in high school, youll be stick with your friends in the same class for 2 years. And then you guys have to go seperate ways after high school, because they have their own dream to catch up, so some might be lucky cause their friends are in the same College or University with them. Most of my high school friends, theyre in different College/University but I tell you NONE OF MY FRIENDS, I mean close friends, theyre not in the same University as me and..no choice, I have to make new friends in University, LIKE IT OR NOT. Im not lying, its really hard for me to find friends like my high school friends in University. HIGH SCHOOL FRIENDS ARE THE BEST ONE. Choosing the right friends in University are the most important thing.
WHERE did I find those materials? :
Garden wire and 3 little circles, I found it in D1.13 room. That time, me and my friend, Jamie went into that room to find some stuff that we can use to make our self portrait. While Jamie doing her stuff at this one table in the room, I suddenly saw unused garden wire on the floor, that I think I might can use it for the self portrait and some little circle things. The leaves. I picked them up at the stairs, near the lake. I saw this one guy sweeping the dried leaves and I straight away think, maybe I can use the leaves too.
WHO are the peoples that I can trust or can count on? :
MY COURSE MATES! Theres only..25? of us in the class. To compare to other courses, theres like.. I think more than 100 of peoples. My friends in Business, Law and other schools, sometimes, they told me like they had a really hard time to make friends and stuff. They ask me, How do you manage to make friends so quickly and become close with them? Well..for me, I think, theres only like 25 of us, so its pretty easy to make friends and blend with them. They are like my FAMILY. We all can blend it together, trust each other, count on each other and stuff. And to me, the lesser people in a class, the easier for me to make friends with all of them but you cant be like, you have more than 100 peoples in a class and you need to make friends with all of them and be close with them, its IMPOSSIBLE. All you have to do, try to make some friends with the people that you think youll be comfortable to talk to or hang out with or what so ever and youll eventually will be closer to them.
WHEN did I do that thing? :
29th of July 2013. The first day of 2D Design's subject. Its 9am and Miss Maslisa gave us 1 hour and half to have our break and meet her back in the class at 10:30am. Since Im a muslim and its a fasting month, I use the 1 hour and a half to find the things that I can use for the self portrait, the others they might take half an hour to go for breakfast then find their things.
HOW did I get the ideas to make that thing? :
I didnt have any plans though actually. I just picked up those leaves and the garden wire and bring them back in the room. I put them on the table and I started to straight the garden wire because it was crooked. I just playing around with it. Firstly, I poked a hole in the middle of one of the leave using the garden wire and I pull them in. I bend the garden wire into 'L' shape like you can see in the picture. I have 10 little circle things with me and I dont know what to do with it, so I just randomly put 3 of the little circle thing in the garden wire and that time those 2 sides, the 3 little things and the leaves can easily come out from the garden wire, so I was thinking, maybe I should make something at the end at one of the side. I dont know suddenly I think, maybe I should do a 'heart' shape at the end of it, cause its pretty easy to do it using garden wire. When Ive done doing the heart shape, the 3 little circle things, it cant come out from the heart shape. I was thinking to make each one of the side heart but then I changed my mind, I wanna do only 1 side. From there, I think and think and think, what can I relate from the thing that I just made? I looked around and BOOOM! I saw my friends! FRIENDSHIP! Yes, friendship. Its actually pretty much like connected with the thing that I made, its like coincidence. I didnt have any plans for it. It suites very well even though the thing that I made is SMALL.
